HOME - Home Investment Partnership Program

The County of Santa Cruz participates in the State HOME Program which enables low income households to become homeowners or to provide tenant based rental assistance to very low income renters.  These funds are provided to local public agencies and nonprofit developers to assist individual household through deferred-payment loans or grants.  Funds are awarded tough a  competitive process after the issuance of a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFAs).  The County of Santa Cruz has been awarded the following HOME Grants:

HOME-First Time Home Buyer Program - Not accepting applications at this time (July 2020)

The County of Santa Cruz HOME First Time Home Buyer Program provides a down payment loan of up to $150,000 to income eligible purchasers towards the acquisition of a condominium, town home or single-family residence in the unincorporated areas of Santa Cruz County.  HOME funds are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

HOME - Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program

The County of Santa Cruz contracted with two sub-recipients to administer the Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program.  Families in Transition (FIT) provides rental assistance to individuals and families making less than 60% of the Area Median Income. The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz provides security deposit assistance to individuals and families making less than 60% of the Area Median Income.  Assistance is available in the unincoroporated areas of the County ofSanta Cruz and Cities of Watsonville, Scotts Valley and Capitola.  Please contact FIT and the Housing Authority for more information.
