Community engagement is an important part of the success of the Housing Element Update. The Santa Cruz County community will have multiple opportunities to collaborate throughout the update process by participating in community workshops, focus groups, online surveys, and Planning Commission/Board of Supervisor public meetings.

Participate in the County's Housing Element Update!
Updating the Housing Element takes input from everyone in the community. The County’s new 2023 Housing Element must accommodate 4,634 new housing units and provide a range of opportunities for all people in our community. Where should these housing units be accommodated? What are the barriers to finding housing in our community?
Members of the public have two unique opportunities to participate in the County's focused development process (additional opportunities for general public input will also be available later on):
If you represent an organization or business interested in housing issues in Santa Cruz County, you can apply to be part of the County’s Housing Element Update Stakeholders Group using the button below.
If you live or work in the unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County (Live Oak, Soquel, Felton, Corralitos, Aptos, etc.) and would like to participate on the County’s Housing Element Update Community Panel, please apply by using the button below.
